iOS - Which is made by Apple. |
|

|
71
| Can the iPad run iPhone apps? |
Yes. iPhone/Touch apps are normally much smaller than iPad's screen, so the iPad provides a "2x" enlargement button that doubles their graphics to take up most (but not all) of the iPad's screen. There are occasional glitches; for example, we've seen the Facebook app mix up its alignment when iPad rotates. Developers modify their existing apps to support both iPhone and iPad. |

The iPad can be used as a stand-alone device but it is designed to connect with a Mac or PC and expects to get most of its media content from iTunes, as the iPod Touch does. |
77

The iPhone 3GS uses the ARM-designed Cortex A8 processor, and earlier iPhones and iPod Touches used the (slower) ARM 11. The iPad uses a 1-GHz "Apple A4" "system on a chip" (or "SOC") design. The A4 is most likely a combination of the ARM Cortex A8 processor, the PowerVR SGX 3D graphics processor and memory controller, manufactured by Samsung (which also makes the iPhone's processor). |
|
78
| Why is the bezel so wide? |
So you can hold it. |
|
80

|
88
| But what if I don't want it to rotate? Say, I'm reading in bed on my side? |
A hardware switch by the volume buttons locks the screen orientation. This can be changed between orientation lock and mute. You can also double tap the home button to bring up the multitasking bar and swipe to the right |
|
89

This looks slightly blocky and blurry. Occsionally, we have noticed apps have a few elements that appear sharp; perhaps higher quality underlying art scales up well? |
|
99
| Will my iPhone/iPod Touch apps work on iPad? |
Yes, Apple states most Apps will work at their native small size, or in a "pixel doubled" mode that expands them to most of the iPad screen. |
|

When you’re holding the iPad in portrait view, the keyboard is too small to touch-type normally. In landscape view, the keyboard is wider, so it’s easier to hit your targets.
